The east side

The east side holds the newest retail in Sioux Falls and some of the oldest working commercial strip in the city. Those two things sit about four miles apart, and both are east of the river.

Roughly 586 published listings here across 37 categories, the widest mix on the site after downtown. Unlike the near south, no single category swallows it.

Three roads carry most of it

East 10th Street runs out from downtown and is the older strip. East 26th Street is the middle one. Arrowhead Parkway is the newest, running east past the built edge of town. South Sycamore Avenue crosses all three and is the north to south spine. An address on Sycamore, Arrowhead or East 10th can be found without a map.

Dawley Farm is the newer cluster

The retail around South Highline Place is the newest concentration on this side. Cinemark Century East at Dawley Farm is at 1101 South Highline Place, and the shops and quick food around it share the same few street numbers.

The older strip is East 10th

Fryn' Pan Family Restaurant is at 2708 East 10th. Nick's Gyros is at 3501. Eastway Bowl is at 3201 East 10th. WoodGrain Brewing Company - East is at 5200 Grant Street, just off it. Hy-Vee Market Grille and Wahlburgers at Hy-Vee are both listed at 1601 South Sycamore Avenue.

Parks and the far edge

Arrowhead Park is at 1600 South River Bluff Road. Harmodon Park is at 5721 East 41st Street. The Mary Jo Wegner Arboretum and East Sioux Falls Historic Site is at 1900 South Perry Place, out past where the streets stop being numbered.

The category mix is unusually even

125 of the listings here are Medical and Dental, which sounds like a lot until you compare it with the 426 in the near south. After that come 43 salons and spas, 39 auto repair shops, 38 landscaping businesses and 37 restaurants. Nothing dominates, so a category search here behaves the way you expect.

A note about how spread out this is

Eight of our Casey's listings are on the east side, more than in any other area. That is a signal about the layout, not about gas stations. This part of town is built for driving, and the gaps between clusters are longer than a map suggests.

Before you go

Check the city field on the listing. East of Sioux Falls the next town is Brandon, and several businesses with an Arrowhead Parkway or East 26th address sit close enough to the line that the city field is the only thing separating them. Crossing it changes the jurisdiction, not the drive.
