Russell Street connects Interstate 29 to the arena and convention campus, and Sioux Falls Regional Airport is on the same corridor. If you are booking a room to be near a flight or an event, this is the pocket. If you want to walk to dinner, it is not.

Where the trades are based

The concentration of auto repair, remodeling, concrete and landscaping listings up here is not an accident. A business that needs a yard, a shop or truck access locates north, then works across the whole city. The address tells you where the company parks, not where it will meet you.

Worth the drive up

Great Shots is at 2505 West Benson Road. Fernson Brewing Company is at 1400 East Robur Drive, and Panacea Meadery is at 804 West Cherokee Street. Fleet Farm is at 3035 West Fleet Street, and Walmart Supercenter is at 5200 West 60th Street North.

One hotel listing names its neighbor rather than its street: Comfort Inn & Suites at Sanford Sports Complex, at 3900 Brendan Lane. That is a useful habit to watch for up here, where several addresses sit on short lanes nobody knows by name.

Before you go

Benson Road and Russell Street both carry heavy truck traffic, and Interstate 90 crosses the top of the city. Allow more time than the distance suggests, particularly on a weekday morning.
